Why I Am Moving Away From Fine Art Photography
I have thought long and hard about this. I have thought even longer about how to explain it to all of you. I have decided to change directions completely with my photography and stop shooting conceptual fine art images for the time being. I don't know how long I'll be stopping for. It might be a short time, it might be forever. Recently, I have really enjoyed shooting fashion, portraiture, and documentary-style photography and have had such a huge desire to create this type of art. With that, I've been so low on motivation and inspiration in terms of fine art photos and I just can't force myself to create something that I have no passion for.
This is a hard decision for me. Around 3 years ago I started to shoot fine art religiously and it was an amazing thing in my life that helped me through so much. It gave me an outlet. Since then, I've lost my passion. And I've realized its time to move on? I've gone through all kinds of questions in my head, such as "is this the right choice?" and "Will I enjoy changing my path?". Most of all, my questions have been about you all- my friends and followers who have been so devoted to my conceptual photography over the years. You've stuck around through thick and thin and offered me support through my artistic funks and life's roller coaster rides. And I can't thank you enough. If you don't want to stick with me after this, misunderstand. But I hope you'll choose to stay by my side as I start my new photography journey. It's gonna be scary, crazy, and exciting. Also, silly. Always silly.
No matter what happens in life, stay motivated and passionate, inspired and youthful. Things have a way if working themselves out.

THE FLAW PROJECT
I have finally, after much deliberation, decided to post my photos from "The Flaw Project". "The Flaw Project" is a personal photographic project that I got the chance to exhibit in early February, and with this project I wanted to get viewers thinking about society and its perception of beauty. The response has been one that I never could have dreamed of. I have received so many kind comments and messages from people saying that my images touched them, made them feel SOMETHING, made them feel like they didn't have to conform to the fake plasticity that a lot of people think beauty is. Everyone is beautiful. Below is the writeup i created that hung next to the photos.
"The Flaw Project is a
series of photographs of young women in their rawest form. I asked my subjects
to pick a part of their body they were uncomfortable with- what they considered
to be their biggest “flaw”. Then, these women let me dress them and photograph
them, showcasing their flaw for everyone to see. The purpose of The Flaw
Project is to show that everyone has “imperfections” they are insecure about,
and that no one is perfect, and I want everyone to see that they are beautiful-
flaws and all. I’d like to thank all my beautiful subjects from the bottom of
my heart for choosing to participate, as well as my amazing friends for helping me plan and execute this project. It couldn’t have
happened without you all. If you’re reading this I want you to remember that
you are beautiful. Keep smiling."

BREE
I cannot believe I forgot to blog this beautiful lady from September. She moved into St. John's and wanted some photos of herself in her grad dress. Congratulations Bree, everything's gonna work out wonderfully for you. :)
